Synopsis
This type of lesson would be categorized as demanding Higher Level Thinking associated with Procedures to Prior Connections. (You must recall from 2nd grade how to tell time via looking and becoming familiar with the position of the hour and minute hand before narrowing it down to accurate numerical values). This lesson highlights time measurement and problem-solving strategies. It's kinda short but valuable.

Exit Ticket

I really liked that you decided to make a post about this topic. I think these days there is digital clocks and phones and it is so easy for students to never have to learn how to read an actual clock. I think it is still a very important skill to learn, and actually one I really struggled with as a student. I think you had great visuals to help students I also liked the exit ticket, great way to figure out the status of your students on a topic without giving an actual test!
ReplyDeleteThis is by far one of my favorites!! I know it may seem a little antiquated, but the concept of teaching time is so important. Although, many have cell phones or digital watches, time and the understanding of how time works, helps students with management skills and planning. This lesson at glance may seem like just teaching the hands on the clock or how to read a clock but it can be built upon to encourage students to understand the concept of time and to me that is a huge asset for students!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, this opened my mind to something I definitely want to make sure I touch upon with my students one day.

Hello Fiorela,
ReplyDeleteMy first post was on teaching student to tell time. I like how you incorporated the analog and the digital clock in the lesson. The step by step picture instruction on how to tell time was really neat. With the way how analog clocks are being taken out of spaces, this topic should be taugh in many grades.
